This hardworking crew, while small, makes up for it in quality and experience – they have more than 50 years of combined Camp experience, and they strive every day to reach and exceed the enormous expectations of a Camp Gray experience for each and every person that steps foot on the Camp Gray property.
Tim Chaptman,Executive Director
Tim hails from Oregon, Wisconsin and his first interaction with the Gray was as a camper in 2001. After that he was hooked! Tim served on summer camp staff from 2005-2011 and served on the SaLT missionary team from 2007-2009. After his time here he was a high school theology teacher, worked in campus ministry at the University of Kansas, and also worked at FOCUS headquarters. He enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife Lauren (herself a summer staffer from 2007-2011!) and their five children John Paul, Charlie, Ellie, Thomas, and Jude. When not doing all things camp, Tim likes to read, dabbles in homesteading, and is often found sipping coffee in the great outdoors.
Shane Reinbold,Assistant Director
Shane comes to us all the way from the windy plains of North Dakota. His history at Camp Gray is long and storied (who can forget Story Time with Shane?!?) as he worked with us through college and for a couple of years full-time running our school year programming. After a few years away, he has made his triumphant return! When Shane isn’t planning for an excellent summer camp he can be found spending time with friends and sipping some black gold out of his Ember Mug. It’s great to have Shane here at Camp Gray!
Mollie Carter,Retreat Director
Mollie hails from the land of fried chicken, bluegrass, and horse racing – Kentucky! Growing up in the rolling hills offered her a chance to grow in her love of the outdoors. She spent a few summers attending and working at Gasper River – a Catholic summer camp in Bowling Green. After graduating college, Mollie came to serve at Camp Gray for a summer. Little did she know it would become her home just a few months later! When Mollie isn’t working to coordinate the best retreats this side of Shady Lane, she enjoys time outside, birding, and plucking her beloved banjo.
Augustine Nguyen,Retreat Director
Augustine is no stranger to Camp Gray. After time as both a camper and summer staffer, Augustine returns as one of our Retreat Directors! Previously, Augustine served on Summer Staff in 2018 and 2019, as well as the Servant & Leadership Team (SaLT) from 2019-2020. In the years since then, Augustine got married to his wife Rachel, became a father, earned a dual bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology from Holy Apostle’s College & Seminary, and began a master’s in theology at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. He did all this as he worked as the Coordinator of Operations & Catholic Studies at St. Augustine’s University Parish at UW-Platteville. Augustine is extremely excited to join us back at Camp as we strive to know Christ and make Him known!
Allison Tesmer,Registrar
Allison comes to us from the nutmeg state of Connecticut. After having spent time on Camp Gray’s summer staff and missionary team in the mid-2010’s, Allison was a second grade teacher in Columbus. Her love of kids and her experience here make Allison the perfect fit to welcome everyone to Camp Gray. When she’s not coordinating groups with a smile she can be found enjoying time with her cat, drinking fine teas, and spending time with friends.
Kate Maciejewski,Director of Food Service
Hailing from Brodhead, WI, Kate is no stranger to Camp Gray. While in college – Kate is a 2010 graduate of Loras College in Dubuque, IA – she served on our Summer Camp Staff for three summers. During her first summer on staff, she was a part of the Camp Gray Kitchen Crew. While Kate has served in several other capacities during her time at Camp Gray, she loves the challenge and joy of providing our campers, retreatants, rental groups, and staffers with delicious and nutritious food. When Kate isn’t whipping up amazing food for Camp Gray, she enjoys hiking, playing sports, and simply being out of doors. She loves enjoying the beauty of creation, especially with friends.
Dan Schara, Property Manager
When there are 225 acres, dozens of buildings, a lake, and countless other nooks and crannies, serving as “Property Manager” might seem like a daunting task – that’s a whole lot to manage! However, there’s nothing that Dan can’t fix! Dan grew up on a farm, and after farming he went into masonry. Most recently he was a groundsman. So, put it simply, he’s been preparing for this role his entire life! When Dan isn’t maintaining Camp Gray, he loves to be outside spending time with his amazing wife, Holly, his three wonderful kids, and his two adorable dogs.
Pat Kash,Asst. Property Manager
Every Batman needs his Robin and Dan Schara has found his in Pat Kash. Pat brings years of experience in construction and woodworking that completes the super duo of maintenance men at Camp Gray. Pat and his wife Theresa enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, gardening, and volunteering at St. Joseph’s Parish in Baraboo.
